Nikon and Canon are very popular, and actually pretty much any digital camera (except the really cheap ones like you might find at Toys R’ Us or something) will have zoom and video. There are two types of zoom, optical and digital. Optical zoom is much more important because that’s what gets you a clear close-up. Digital zoom comes after the optical zoom is maxed and gets you an even closer view, but significantly compromises the quality, so you’re not going to really be using that. Most cameras around $100 will have 3x optical zoom, while amazon.com has a pretty sweet deal on the Canon Powershot A590, which I’m seriously considering getting myself, largely for the 4x optical zoom.
